Nissan Murano 2008 a first for me

First 4x4, first big thing and second Nissan (had a 350Z in 2005)
Why? Because I don't like driving Anna's Dodge Nitro when we all go out, and because if I drop the kids off during the week my E500 cab is a pain getting them in and out (4 yo twins) lastly they go to a farm school that will be a bugger to get to in snow it's bad enough in mud.
So I PHJUSTIFIED (new word) a 4 wheel drive and I like a bit of left field choice seeking out unloved types etc I targeted a honda legend 4wd loaded and cheap but I wanted a dealer warranty and the dealers wanted silly money for the cars forgetting they had near 40% off when new! Then when bleating about one dealer someone asked if it was a Murano I was after and then when checked the 2008 facelift put right all the things I didn't like about the original.
2 cameras, sounds, pace, nav, looks (!) build quality and safety are all available for little over £10k to £16k max I decided to spend little but get the nissan warranty as the cvt box and steering lift motor worried me .
Locally a perfect car was in a nissan dealer at £15,500 2009 I called and asked to be informed if they repriced it then I came across a 2008 for £11k again in a dealer with 50k miles - I was interested. Whilst still looking a local indie dealer had a perfect car at £14k but a 2 year nissan warranty was £1500 !!! So no go back to the £11k car in bloody Bognor Regis.
Called up, "what's it like whys it 54 reg?" They promptly took a video of the car inc bad points and came up with a decent deal inc 6 months tax, a second years warranty was £350 no brainer but Nissan have a deal on AUC stock if you buy on finance you get 2 services and 2 years breakdown free, I asked how much I had to finance to get the deal it was 20% at average % again no brainer.
They said car would have 12m mot, 6m tax, 2 years warranty, 2 years servicing full valet and check over for £11k very happy then I noticed the accessory book, I had to have side bars with puddle lights, mud spats and rear number tailgate trim adding about £1k but jazzing it up a bit and why not.
So collection day tomorrow, train to euston, taxi to Victoria, train to Bognor then long drive home to Wirral. Can't wait. If you look in my history 18 months ago I bought a AUC 760i BMW from Portsmouth that was presented in the rain and had been bumped in the car park - nightmare, hopefully this will run without hiccup.

Cx7 manual only, had two Lexi bored with style free interior of last generation, Trib - no dealer within miles of here, I can walk to a nissan dealer plus the 3.5 V6 is a great motor, with a CVT ??? illuminated advert board by j1 m5 northbound is a joke - was obviously on daylight setting at night and was blinding. Crash on m6 southbound at Stafford was horrible and I counted a 8m tailback at 9pm very sad.
Initial impression - I'm not used to anything other than sporty German stuff so found the seats just seaty not heavily bolstered and first roundabout reminded me to brace for the second roundabout.
Thoughtfully someone had left something hard somewhere that rolled on braking and rolled on acceleration - still can't find it!
Good sat nav but fisher price controls all a bit dumbed down but effective
You get no speed respect in a 4*4 in all my recent cars people don't bully me to pull over, in this they do but it's quite nippy.
It sounds like my 350Z did

Double roof, front part opens only, both blinds are electric vanishing into the thin middle bit - spooky as not the roll up kind
Looks in good nick, needs a detail but not a bad place to start
Dash is functional, the two heather controls mirror the two radio controls and I was getting them mixed up a lot.
Get an infinity FX diesel rather than the Murano unless your saving money. Missus does town only in murano and it does mid 20 which us amazing - however my 5.0 infinity has never dropped less than 17.3 which after the 8mpg of my 760 is superb.
So we happily run the murano and infinity , of a weekend I drive the murano which I still love.
