I have just treated myself to a 30k 2007 M6, which is quite frankly a lovely place to be and exactly what I wanted...

However as it's on a BMW warranty I am wondering the best way to have the limiter removed prior to any vmax attendance and a trip to tracks and Germany?

I know BMW offered a M power pack for it, that kept the warranty but that was at new?

Also does anyone know what the roof is good for speed wise?

Have fun people,

Dave

Congratulations! E64 M6 is a beautiful car.

If modified parts of your car has directly contributed to the failure of a component you're trying to cover under warranty then it will be void. Most people have no problem with ECU with regards to warranty since BMW never really check whether your ECU has been tuned or not during normal services. They may flash the drive and install latest version from BMW during recalls or services but usually your ECU provider will re-install for free of charge.
If you are deleting the speed limiter you might as well go for proper tuner's map to gain some more BHP too.

I did not know that BMW offered M power pack..

Reg the roof, I don't know what the reasonably 'safe' top speed would be but I wouldn't try hitting 200mph in a vert. When you are aiming to do some high speed runs, check more direct components like tyre treads, pressure, alignments and so on.

Hope that helps, enjoy the motor in good health!
(keep the roof down as much as possible before weather really turns nasty!)

DMS Automotive can fix that for yousmile

If you look at a few of the VMAX events about 6+ish yrs ago, you'll see me running my E60 M5 through the traps at over 180MPH. I was running a DMW map on that car.
