Download chrome (if you haven't already) then install adblock. No more ads on sites. Especially good when on a youtube binge.

I thought all the ads were supplied by google? PH dont get a say at all in what is displayed.

(I HATE adverts with audio btw)

no, they dont.
if Google Ad-sense supplies the ads, which i think it does, they have no say at all.

They are in full control but they have decided to delegate to Google because they make more money that way. No one at Google has a gun to PH's heads forcing them to show any particular advert.

edit - if I sat outside your house blasting out techno music at midnight would you accept my excuse that it was the radio station's fault for broadcasting the music?

When you're a large advertiser you can specify the type of adverts you want and PH I'm sure have specified no adverts with sound or self opening adverts but sometimes the person putting the advert in doesn't rag it properly either because they're incompetent or they're being malicious.

This is not an isolated case either. There was another thread on this subject running last week. Is PH going to continue down this route? If so I believe it will be the beginning of the end for many.

This.

I used to leave it with the acceptance that adverts paid for the sites etc. Until the musical ones, and then the ones that jump out over the screen etc. Now it's AdBlock and a much nicer experience.

This sort of thing is why sound is off until I need to put it on. It then gets turned off again immediately afterwards.

Why? If you are expecting no sound then no sound is what you should get?

Stop being a mouse! It's your computer, your sound set up and your choice of where you go. If PH states 'no sound' then that is the alleged standard.

All these adverts generate income.

All these adverts should generate customer service. Where is it???

I don't need to expect no sound. I can guarantee no sound. I don't need to rely on someone else for that, I can rely on myself for it. I don't want my computer to ping when I get an email (or whatever), I will decide if I want to check for new mail when it is convenient for me. I have control, not someone else (or their software). Who's the mouse?

Why should adverts generate customer service? PH is free to the users; we are not the customers, we are the product being sold to advertisers.
