In a quest for a bit more volume, I'm swapping out the speaker in my Laney Cub 12R, going from Celestion Rocket 50 to a Vintage 30, and gaining about 5dB sensitivity and therefore a lot more poke for small gigs.

Anyone got advice on the best way to break in a new cone? Obviously I don't want to hit it with full power straight off, although the cone is rated 60W and the amp is only 15W push-pull valve power.

I don't know where I got this from, but I play for a few hours of nice and big clean chords, let the speaker see the full range of your guitar. Then crank it slowly. After that, gig! biggrin
