These guys:
http://www.hexagonmodernclassics.com/sales.asp
have an original, 1 owner, silver, untracked, unmodified, 87,000km, LHD 911 964 RS 3.8 for sale.

It's not on their website. Went to see it in their South Ken showroom.

They're asking £350,000.

I do wish they wouldn't just list everything they have in stock as 'POA'...

A very similar 1 owner, silver, tracked, 139,500km, LHD 911 964 RS 3.8 was sold at the Bonhams auction in Belgium for €270,250 (£231,523) inc. premium on 11th October 2013.

Can we assume there must be two similar that came onto the market at the same time?

I agree, its so bloody annoying! I'd love someone to explain the thinking behind it...

I own restaurants, might try 'POA' on the menu & see how it goes! biggrin

I wouldn't even consider a dealer who puts POA next to all their add's. If it was a one off very high value special, maybe on Sale or Return and discretion was required I could understand it. But a blanket policy? I'll go elsewhere thanks. I wont bother with Hexagon or Hendon Way when I go GT3 hunting come the spring. Silly? Maybe. But it just turns me off straight away.

Untracked??? Unmodified???
Hmmmm.... they'll be telling you it was the last one built next...

Let's just say it is the same car as was sold at the auction: Which was sold with a spare set of wheels and a spare bonnet. And that it didn't come from the factory with those pins to hold the bonnet and rear deck down... and the engine was rebuilt quite early in it's life... I'm not going to join up the dots for you. But these cars were designed to be tracked.

Any interested buyers might wish to do some research in Germany where it's apparently quite well known and been for sale for some time... before they gave up and threw it in the auction!

But clearly the market has moved on over the past 12 months...

And then again, I'm not aware of any of the other 54 for sale at the moment, and there aren't many 1 owner ones out there, so where else are you going to get one? I guess it's simple supply/demand, if you are the only supply you name your price.

Good luck to them. And I can confirm, they are awesome cars!

I assume that the discrepancy in the mileage is a typo? redcard

For what it's worth, and playing devil's advocate, a dealer in this situation would say there's nothing to stop anyone else going to the auction and buying it. Plus, they have to put their name (a well-established one since the 1960s, with ancillary main BMW franchise - and a previous F1 entrant, to boot) to it and pay for space in South Kensington until it's sold. The 'POA' (I would venture) is partly a result of the very open auction prices available to all now and partly as a hedge against future price and currency fluctuations. An old saw is that it's to see what sort of person calls up (or in) and vary the price accordingly. I don't think that's the case any more. In the high-end world of classic car dealers, 'POA' is far and away the norm. Nothing to do with selling cars on consignment in this case (which I doubt if they ever do, anyway).

RUCKUS! smile

Mileage discrepancy may be my bad memory. Car looks sensational though. The baddest looking 911 ever? Probably!

So how much for a RHD one? Only 2 built IIRC. One was over here in the UK (Guards Red) but not sure if it went abroad at some point.

Well as an owner, if they manage to totally reprice the market I'll be a happy chappy.
But seriously, if they do make a profit, car dealer is the easiest game on the planet:
Car doesn't sell for a year at Euro 139k... goes to auction, you bid it up to Euro 260k and then stick it on the forecourt for over Euro 400k.

That said... stuff can reprice... I missed a limited edition Porsche that failed to sell at auction in the UK (bid to less than £30k), was offered at a dealer after for £32k... sold to a German dealer who sold it on for Euro 125k within a couple of months. There were none others for sale, he had the only one, he named the price, someone wanted it. Now they are all Eur 150k.

So only 2 RHDs... and only 10 (ish) Clubsports of the 55...

Didn't I see a 993 GT2 on offer for Eur 500k recently? So maybe this IS the right price for these cars... I can see the logic.

That car is just utterly stunning!

Well they single handedly repriced BMW Z8's from £40k to £80k so anything's possible!

Hexagon are run by a guy called Paul Michaels who is an old school car dealer...he'll buy cars and hold onto them for as long as he wants. Unlike most dealers being privately owned he sets the rules and doesn't have holding periods etc. Not worried about a quick turn. He's a genuine car enthusiast...owns a Leyton House Porsche 962 and a Stirling Moss DB4 GT amongst others. He was apparently heavily involved in the classic car boom in the late 80's....he and a two or three others ramped the market and let the fever take over.

If I was a betting man I'd say he'll eventually get his money. He knows it's an incredibly rare car and someone will pay that eventually. They're standard operating procedure with the BMW franchise is to buy high spec low mileage cars...especially the kind of ones that other BMW dealers wont buy like the Z8 or E39 M5 and sit on them.

I wonder what they're asking for the 11,000 mile Turbo S?!?!

I actually wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the cars he sells are his own cars. They seem to get a lot of rare cars. They've had a Sport quattro, BMW M1 and a racing CSL in the last year. Not run of the mill cars at all.
