Just walking to work this morning (Whitby, North Yorkshire) when I happened to see what looked a bit like a flatter Scirrocco.
As it came closer I realised it was an XL1. Car was on German plates.
Sadly it was gone before I could get my phone out to get a photo but there`s no doubt that`s what it was.

Looks pretty good on the road tbh, not done much reading up on this one, is it actually in production yet? Last I heard it was going to be VERY pricey.

Must be a day for unusual cars as I also so a BMW E30 that had been (very nicely) converted into a flatbed pickup!

Latest I heard was that it would cost £100K, and they're only building approx 300, so you've done very well to see one in the flesh!

Would love to know what kind of MPG it would get climbing Lythe Bank!

Spent a few days over there a few summers ago. We walked the dog to Whitby and got the bus back to the campsite. The local bus doesn't feel like it's made for climbing those hills - 1st gear all the way!

I have only seen it at the motor show in Geneva this year but I thought it was stunning. I would definitely have one.

Yep, really nice looking thing.
Wish I could have got a photo of it.

£100K plus pricetag and only 300 to be produced allegedly.

There can`t be more than 1 or 2 in the country right now surely...

The thing I particularly liked about it was how the design of it managed to be really lavish but also really frugal at the same time. Such an exquisite piece of engineering and to me it was clear that everything on the car had a purpose. Nothing was there for the sake of it.

Just done an image search on Google and it came up with a dodgy looking VW with fender skirts that looks like something out of Joe 90... please tell me that is not the car to which you refer...

I think it's a stunning looking thing. Function over form really stands out when everything else on the road is covered in bling.

I agree, pictures do not do it justice.
For a small car it has a lot of presence.

Won`t be everyone's cup of tea but, given the very limited numbers, I doubt they`ll have a problem selling 300 of them even at silly money.
