There are some amazing kit cars owned by PHers. I'd like to know who had the highest power to weight ratio road legal kit. I'm currently just shy of 700bhp/tonne wet weight but considerably less when I park my not inconsiderable bulk in the seat. What's your figures?
430bhp/620kgs 694bhp/tonne

mine is a kind of kit car, well its as much a kit car as an Ultima... a Noble.

I only manage 666bhp per tonne and 558ftlb per tonne wet but that drops to 610bhp per tonne with me in the car which is the more realistic figure lol.... I do however have plans to upgrade the power next year by 50bhp smile

Im hoping the GTT will be 900bhp per tonne wink... but its a long way from being finished lol

Hello Andy, I saw you were thinking about using the S85 engine in your car? Your Noble is immense. Would love a spin in it.
Mine is now away for the Winter, also looking at gaining another 50odd bhp next year with different inlet, exhaust manifold and uprated intercooling.
Highest power to weight ratio I`ve seen so far is a Dax Cosworth Turbo with 630bhp at the wheels over 900bhp/tonne.
I have an itching to build a turbocharged Volvo (Yamaha) V8 a la M600 then sell built engines as a package. probably dreaming tho!

Managed to get 567 BHP/T in this MEV Rocket, which was fully dyno'd and corner weighted at Northampton Motorsport:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b_T78VoAx3s

Full carbon fibre panelled/seated/floor/wings, 100% built with new parts. Could have saved more weight easily, and could have acheived another 40-50 BHP with a gas flowed head. Not bad for a supercharged 2 ltr Zetec. The power and torque curve ended up beautiful.

Need proof of figures Guys !!!!!!!!!

Duncan Cowper`s car is absolutely mental and very well developed. He`s certainly at the top of the league table at 1000bhp/tonne. I wonder how much torque it makes?

I have approx 160 per tonne on this engine,
178 @ 250 per tonne with the ones I am now rebuilding
Therefore if bhp per tonne is inversely proportional to phallus size I have the biggest so far
And if I get a fat girlfriend and put the lawn mower engine in I can do away with the vacuum pump and the expensive pills

If that's the way this is going, we should be hearing from the Lomax owners before long.

My phoenix has 380at the wheel, 638kg, which is 700a tonne at the fly wheel, exact figure depends on how you calculate transmission loss.

plenty of people post pics up of cars they have lavished their time on... this is the same but discussing the engines/specs.

This is going to be pretty near the top:

833bhp/tonne

Interesting cooling set up.

Nice spec engine though!

No idea on my Tiger. 145 Dyno BHP at the wheels and 650KG with a full tank at the SVA. What does that make?

Could I add my Fireblade ? 164BHP at the rear wheels and 200kg smile again no idea how much but a lot
