Had a look at a 997.1 GT3 RS for sale at Graypaul Notts. it appears to be a nice car but doesn't have a Porsche service history. Only the first service was by an OPC the rest by a variety of specialists. What do people think, would it put you off and would it have a material impact on value? I'm assuming an OPC warranty would be out of the question?

Some specialists are highly regarded and won't blight the car.

It'll need to be completely standard to factory spec and pass a 111 point check. They'll probably stipulate a service too.

I take mine to a specialist (Mike at Sports & Classic), not because he is cheaper but because he is better. I know some GT car owners have good experiences with local their OPC. I wouldn't trust the ones local to me as far as I can throw them.

not many people post on Pistonheads who own Porsches vs how many are sold in the UK

A full OPC service history will help sell the car no question.

I am in 2 minds as mine is due a major and the OPC is double the price also the warranty is due.
then early next year they are both due on my other car.

if I forgo the warranty and have the service done at a indy I will save 3k or 5k depending if I go for the 2 year warranty option.

5k is a nice slush fund to have if I get the indy to service it and don't have the warranty.
also as both are 4 years old I bet the batterys will go on both soon and I will also be free to fit what I like saving another £330
ANd I am fitting pilot SS over N rated tyres, it just seems no point to keep the cars with full OPC service history.

As long as history is full it wouldn't bother me if specialist or main dealer, personally.

Once a car is past about 3 years old it wouldn't worry me one bit so long as the indy was reputable.

They'll warranty it IF the car is put back to completely standard by OPC, and it has the BIG service there as well.

Thanks for your thoughts guys. I've come to the conclusion that for me, having a non OPC history on a (to me) expensive car from pretty much day one is an issue, or I wouldn't have questioned it in the first place I guess. I'm also struggling to justify the additional £20k+ for the RS over my 'normal' GT3. Ideally I'd like a cage as I want to run harnesses, so I'll keep looking for. Club Sport instead.

I know Porsche and Goodwill are two words not usually associated these days, but for me it has to be same main dealer history for years right through for looking after you and for resale.
