I just clicked apply and it came up with "We are not currently accepting applications for Future Pilot Programme"

If I am reading this correctly then at 45 I am still good to go, I am applying as I always wanted to be a pilot.

I know that sounds daft but I failed the RAF fighter pilot assessment when I was 16 due to being left handed. And it has bugged me ever since.

I passed all their damn tests but that was the excuse they used and being young I didn't challenge it.

Yeah, let us know how you get on with 'giving it a shot'. Probably best doing a lotto ticket too while you're at it.

Allan; I passed all but one of the tests on the week long selection at RAFC Cranwell, was recommended based on results for pilot, supposedly fast jet stream looked likely.

I fked up the leadership test and that put paid to that. I was 17, impetuous, and didn't come back when I was eligible for reapplication, as they told me to.

I haven't thought about that every day for the last ten years, nope...

Has anyone on PH made a go of this? I'm sorely tempted but I'd be interested to know what the chances are of getting into £80k's worth of debt and NOT getting a job at the end of it... Cheers!

More to cut down the amount of applicants. Bet I can fly an aircraft just as well as someone who got a history degree 30 years ago.

At 45, you wouldn't be the oldest in the current intake. If you've got what BA are looking for, you have got it regardless of age. The age range on my intake was 19-40. Second intake even bigger range.

Anybody wants information on this I can help...

My poor parents spent £50K getting my brother qualified as a pilot (the BA scheme wasn't open at the time)… having been qualified as a commercial pilot for a year he is now working as cabin crew on Easyjet and also paying to keep his flying hours up…

Getting qualified is apparently just the first hurdle …!
