I went for a lower colour temperature (5000K) so the appearance is rather more like the normal bulbs and less blue/white while still retaining the brightness of HIDs. That said a bloke with a candle walking along in front of you is an improvement on the original headlights. You need to unplug the HID bulbs and replace them with halogens for the MOT.

I would go with 5000K or 5500K. 6000 is a bit cyan, which looks a bit boy racer and you lose some light output.

Any H7 HID kit will work on the 4 headlight cerb.

Did you improve the wiring at all?

I've got both a HID kit and some Phillips X-Treme Vision bulbs. However, given that the wiring at the control box is prone to burning out I was contemplating adding a relay into the loom and direct feed from the battery.

My first Cerbera had a direct feed and the headlights were nice and bright.

Got a plan that can be posted or a wiring diagram for Dullos like me ?
(In fact, doesn't the advert that I posted include two relays ? - Sorry, but I am a Dullo getmecoat)

ETA
...and just to prove the depth of my Dullo-ness...... the kit that is detailed above has only two bulbs in the picture.
Does this mean that it is only for Main beams ?

Does that mean that you can't have HID Dipped beams ?

Sorry........ again banghead

Can this kit be legally fitted to a car in the UK?

I thought there some changes to the MOT regs about retro fitted HiD kits about washers etc , or did that get binned ?

Dipped beam only..

HID's don't like being switched on and off as you do with a main beam.

HIDs, not strictly, no. You can retro-fit them, but they must be self-levelling and E-marked.

Thanks for a definitive answer Jhonno

So what on earth does one put in for mains alongside HID dips to add to the available light source ?? scratchchin

The HIDs that I fitted do have a dip. It woks by moving a shield around the bulb on a solenoid which changed the beam pattern between main and dip. The discharge unit stays on all the time and the shield moves.

I compared the beam patterns with the original halogens by shining them on a wall and marking the outline on the wall, then chancing to the HID and doing the same. The patterns were spot on the same as far as I could tell.

I put a direct feed to the HID ballasts from the battery. My kit included all the relays to do this.

i used a relay controlled by the main head light control box wired direct to the battery. I found that before i done this there wasn't enough of a stable voltage for the HID's to ignite properly.

Transformed night time driving. I might do the dipped too as i have the quads.

I have the "quad projector light pods" and am running HID for the dipped beam. As other poster stated - can't use HID for the main as it doesn't instantly activate to full brightness (needs a few seconds) therefore not suitable.

Also - worth taking a direct feed from the battery to the HID lights - they need a decent level of power and I had problems with one of the HID lights not always coming on when using the original wiring loom.

Had the first set of HID lights fitted by Joo shortly after buying the Cerb (nearly 5 years ago now); then had the wiring upgraded not long after; and this year had to get a new set of HID as the box had failed on one of the lights this year.

The dipped beam is definitely a massive improvement over the (frankly pants) original lights.

Persevere - it's worth it!
