"go to new posts" finding wrong posts

This has been going on for ages, there was an other topic I've commented on but it has got no response.
The "go to new posts" link seems to take me to a random time stamp. A topic came up in "what's new" recently that I'd not viewed for a week or so, but "go to new posts" decided I had last viewed said topic at 10:27, so too me to the latest page with the blue bar under the 10:27 post.
Can this be looked at please?
