Okay, I'm trying to find a tune I recall from about 1997/8. It has the same keyboard riff as the start of this: http://tinyurl.com/pshw28k and a male vocalist (deep voice, probably black) repeating "love" over the top.

Anyone have the slightest idea what tune I'm referring to?

Can't get youtube in work. What's the song?

I do love these threads. Got some excellent suggestions on my last one.

Sound Design - Happiness? (early 2000's I think!)

No, it pre-dates that. Same sample though.

'Let The Beat Hit 'Em' by Lisa Lisa is the keyboard sample/recreation at the start.

And if you type that into the trainspotter's ultimate resource, 'Who Sampled.com' you get a load of Youtube vids to play through, each featuring the sample at the start of your reference track.

Let us know how you get on, OP!

Doesn't sound that similar tho really . Blimey the Lisa Lisa track sounds so dated now! Undeniably a classic tho

The keyboard riff here at 2min 43sec in of this C&C version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a7o4W_xdCyM 1991 as already mentioned.

Anyway OP, gives you somewhere to start - if you spend enough time on who sampled, pretty sure it'll put you out of your misery.

OP's linked tune is definitely a recreation of that hook rather than a sample - definitely sounds dated, even the 'C&C club mix' - loads of brassy horns, proper eighties sounds in the keyboards they had were using, eh!

Tell you what though - have you seen End Of Watch? The scene when the cops crash the Latino party? The Latin Rascal's track, 'Lisa's Coming' - love it, even older from 1985 according to who sampled, but seems to have more atmosphere - not really related, just another Lisa Lisa sampling track.

Thanks Guys.

That Shena one is most like it in feel but it lacks the male vocal going, "love" Of course what I recall might have been a white label / bootleg...

Thanks too for the whosampled site, hours of fun to be had.
