Anyone know what type of gearbox is in a 400se ?

Is it LT77 ?

I know it said Rover on it when I had it out last but can't remember anything else

The reason of asking is I think I need a heavy duty clutch as the one I originally bought to go in when I put the 4.5 in did not fit on the spline, so i had to use the 400 one.
This is now showing signs of slipping sometimes if I really thrash through the gears. so would like to get an uprated one ready for if it goes on me !

Just being pedantic, but not quite, the SD1 had a few varients of the same box in, the later ones were the best, detotes as "D" types...

Sorry for being anal...

As for clutchs, try AP Racing i guess, the sharks at Demon Tweeks stock them, amongst loads others

My 4.3BV had an AP green spring clutch fitted about 3 years ago, and has been fine. Engine puts out 244BHP at the wheels, and does at least one trackday a year, and c. 6K miles p.a. on the road.

Borg and Beck from John Eales with steel release bearing.

About to switch to a twin plate paddle clutch to allow a 12 inch diameter flywheel to be fitted to compliment the new modified LT77 box that Mr Eales is building me with straight cut close ratio toughened gears...
