Can finally bring myself to post (thanks to those that know for keeping quiet), but the Sagaris I had from new died in September and is now Cat B.

Good news is that I have the cash to buy something else, but what? I've driven the AM V8V but not the R8 yet, has anyone got any experience of either or any other suggestions, except Porsche please as I've had 3 and driven many more over the years.

Aston. Might as well give it a shot - or the new F-type

Interesting. Hadn't even thought about an F-Type, but aren't they auto only?

Not sure actually. I seem to remember they did have a manual option, but check the website configurator to be sure.

I drove to my F-Type test drive in my Sagaris, just so I had an accurate barometer.

The Sag feels last century. Really, it feels that old. BUT despite the awesome sound, the stunning power and delivery, I wouldn't have it. Far too many electronics. If you do drive it, watch the dash when you start the HVAC. If they did a stripped out RS version...

My 2p - out of your list there is only one car that will rise in value. Sagaris. To that list I would add the NSX?

Take it you are OK? Cars can be replaced.
Have now got the V8V very different to the Sag, slightly slower, much heavier especially the front end feel, feels special in a different way to the Sag.
Tried the R8 and it is quicker than the V8V but doesn't to me feel at all special, not as well put together as the AM by a long way.
Depends on what you want from a car really, pace R8 or Sag, feeling special V8V or Sag.

GTR is just a bit too much playstation for me, immensely capable of course. Not driven an F-type but no manual in the configurator so again probably a bit too 'easy'. Ok, sounds like I'm talking myself into another Sagaris - 8 years was the longest I'd kept any car (next closest was an F355) so must have been something about it that suited me.

The V8v is a very special place to be and a lovely car albeit slower than the Tvr. The r8 (I almost purchased one earlier this year) is a fantastic handling car but bland inside and unless really pushing just not fun, v10 on the other hand is awesome smile

I've driven an AM V8V a couple of times, once on the track and I was pleasantly surprised now well it handled. Driving an R8 Sunday so see how that goes, but sounds like it might be dissapointing.

Noble. Or push the boat out and get a Ford GT. Both great and relatively safe places to put money.

Mclaren? Although a relatively unsafe place to put money...

Thoroughly unimpressed with the F-Type personally.

I really want to say any 911 GTx but not allowed hehe

Funnily enough when I originally bought the Sag it was a very close call with an M400. Both stonking cars, but the interior of the Sag and being just a bit more practical (really!) swung it to the TVR in the end.

I suppose once you have a Sagaris (like I have) other cars are cars? _ I have a M5 estate aswell which is a great machine, I am looking to replace and thing of the RS6, I was going to look at the F type - but seems all is bad press on it, though proof in pudding and drive the car to make choice

I would get another Sagaris in a heartbeat, let me know what you think of the R8

Wouldn't describe the R8 as dissapointing it just does everything very well without making you feel part of the process, on our B roads it's bloody impressive.
Let down by its interior both in look and quality unfortunately and as my non petrolhead colleagues put it it looks too much like a TT for what it costs.
Before anyone says all AMs look the same, maybe but at least they are all good to look at.
Depends what people want but if you liked the Sag then would say another Sag or find the extra for the V12 Vantage as that sorts out the slightly slower bit where the V8 suffers against the Sag.

I had similar thoughts a couple of years ago when I let the Sag go.

I initially opted for a Ferrari 360 spider which was great (similar money) and so much better built than the Sag. It had a great sence of occaision but people generally hate you and give you rude hand gestures when you drive a Ferrari. They hold their money quite well though and running costs comparable to the Sagaris - its worth looking at one if you'd never contemplated the idea before.

After the 360, I went for an R8. The R8 was simply awesome. A great noise (if a little quiet before a sports exhaust) and all mod cons and stuck to the road like nothing else this side of a Nissan GTR. I only got rid of it before I got bitten by depreciation otherwise it would have been a keeper for sure. The only downside with the R8 is that it was too well built - very little sence of speed and you had to drive like a demon to put a smile on your face. Because you are so well insulated from whats going on around you, the R8 can feel a little clinical and hence the sence of occaision was slightly lacking. Still a great car though.

Whats next? I'm on the lookout for a Lamborghini Diablo or a Wiesmann - both of which should hold / increase their value pretty well.

Have you thought about an Aston DB7 too?

Lee how did the interior on your R8 wear, when I was looking recently I purposely saw a few higher mileage cars to see how they looked after some use and was very dissapointed seats and trim didn't seem to last very well at all.
