Decent routes from the British Museum to Bishopsgate?

I'm back on my bike on Monday for my first commute to a new office on Bishopsgate.

I've got a route I've been using for years which gets me to the British Library. I used to head south from there to Southbank but will now be heading east.

I prefer to keep off the main arterial roads. Don't mind lots of stopping and starting (good excuse to get up off the saddle).

Any suggestions? Or suggestions for any sites with recommended routes for bikes?

I tried TFL Journey Planner and Google Maps but they just suggested the main roads with all the buses/taxis/cars/pedestrians.

Holborn to bishopsgate?

might as well walk? it's a 5 min cycle!

ok it's 3 miles. but the route is get onto Holborn. bash it down to St.pauls, then depending where your office is onto bank and up or the other way round

I'd cut along Smithfield Market, under the Barbican tunnels and then past Liv St station.

Nice one, thanks, Used it three times now and it's great. On the other occasion I tried the Lincolns Inn Fields/St Pauls/Bank route - and your suggestion is much better.
