Previously when I've done cherished transfers I've done them at the local DVLA office meaning the tax disc gets replaced with one with the correct number on it, I've just swapped a plate between two of my cars via the postal system as the local office is now closed, docs came through today but no mention of what to do with the tax disc, both of which now display the wrong VRN. I've just checked my sons car on which he did a transfer about two months ago and he also still has the tax disc in the old VRN, should I be doing anything about it or not?

If it's just the old discs you're talking about with the previous registration number on them then just bin them.

DVLA stopped asking for the old discs back a long time ago.

when you say the docs came back today I assume you mean the V5C.
Swansea are currently sending the V5C first, and then the new tax disc and MOT certificate a couple of days later on. If you've received a new MOT cert and no tax disc then phone them on Monday to chase.

Many thanks, I'd forgotten I'd sent the MOT off as well. I'll wait a few days more. Will have to check with the boy though, not sure he's received his yet and it was a couple of months ago.

Just checked with the boy, the first letter he had contained the form to get new plates along with a replacement tax disc (which he had forgotten to put in thee car)and MOT cert, a few days later he had the new V5. I'm wondering if my first letter with the MOT and tax has gone awol. Will give it a week or so and see if it turns up.
