This week I have been doing my first Crestron install with the help of a programmer friend of mine.

It's an upgrade of an old cat5 system I put in 4 years ago. Boy it is good.

8 HDMI sources
12 Cat6 outputs with HDMI receive cards at the TV end, which also do local control of the screens
5 iPads around the house
Crestron apps on each
Live sky box and DVD feeds on the iPad screens with addition now / next / channel data
Dynamic favourite saved and updated with a single button press
Proprietary gate control with live camera feed, transmitting up to 1km range
Sonos button within the Crestron pages that kits you out to Sonos app
Full lighting control via Crestron app to Rako keypads and dimmers

This included needing half the rack rebuilding to accomodate the 7u video matrix!

5 days of install and 6 days of programming so far!

Really enjoyed it to.

Looks fun!

How easy and costly would it be for us mere mortals to get a Sky feed on to our ipad? Didn't even know it was possible. Presumably this is not something available from the App Store?

Thanks Toxic.

This is as big as I want to go to be honest. As we have spoken, this middle market is very under sold and can be very lucrative with the right team.

Really enjoyed it and the client has downloaded the app and processor while on holiday and took control of our light and screens.

Not sure you need to spend all that money for most things.

I have a NAS box and sonos and can do any thing I want, stream what I want and play music in any room I want for not much cash at all.

In days of old I used to spend big money and install htpc etc but today to play music and movies to any device costs peanuts. And dlna every thing just works.

Digger, you could use Sky Go as an option for some of the channels on Sky.

If you want all of them, I have seen something about Global having an encoder product, but can't find anything about it on line.

Will talk to my wholesaler tomorrow about it.
