Had the same problem a few years back.
Wool carpets look the business but stink when wet then rot.
I chose synthetic ones from Coverdale:

And have not regretted it. They are a decent firm to deal with, no connection just a satisfied customer.
The spray glue they supply is fine but dont bother with their glue remover, I found white spirit much more effective.
