Hi all, I have a 46L tropical tank with 1x gourami, 5x Danios, 3x Neons and a red Betta.
The tank is cleaned once a week with a 10% water change. All the fish seem fine apart from persistent fin rot on the Betta.
I have given 2x 5 day courses of fin rot treatment and there appears to be no improvement .
What can I do next?
Also, see below, I presume this is fin rot but I'm pretty inexperienced with fish.

I may be wrong but it looks like he's having his fins nipped, possibly by the danios.
can you segregate him and see if it improves?

I do have another tank I could set up. I haven't seen the other fish at him but it's a possibility.

I used to be very involved in keeping freshwater tropical fish would agree that he is having his fins nipped, almost certainly by the Zebra Danios. He doesn't have fin rot but rather the webbing between the fin rays is being torn.

Unfortunately, there isn't much you can do as they aren't ideal tankmates. The Betta likes slow, almost still water whilst the Danios prefer good circulation. You could isolate him in a "breeding trap" for a few days but the problem will keep recurring.

Perhaps best to speak to your supplier to see if you can return him or else set up a mini tank in which he will be quite happy on his own and you can also watch him build a bubble-nest!

Thanks for the advice, I'll set up another tank for him.
