Relocating...from London
Discussion
Looks like around april/may next year. Work dependant.
Was thinking edinburgh - went to uni there, although that's a fair few years ago now!!
But visited Glasgow a few times recently and have to say loved it, particularly the west end, byres road/hyndland and surrounding areas + easy access into town. I guessing though that means its pricey + would I get a garage?
Someone mentioned newton mearns - brother + family live in Clarkson now, so wouldnt mind being within a reasonable distance to them tbh - and friend has recently relocated and chosen stirling.
Flying up to do a bit of house hunting next weekend - any suggestions/comments/experiences much appreciated.

It all depends what you want/need.
Flat or house?
Do you need a garage? Single or double?
Are you buying or renting?
What's the budget?
West end is nice but you're right it's pricey, Shawlands is like the west end of the south side
bit cheaper. Again all depends on what you're looking for

Really depends on if you need a garage. With that budget you can be slightly south. West end possible but partick in old conversions. Glasgow has better general access than Edinburgh which is car unfriendly and pricier. Outside centre your budget buys a lot. Try bothwell/uddingston. Train to anywhere from uddingston and your budget buys a mansion.
I'm originally from the south side and have moved up to Bearsden/ Milngavie and really like it, not too far from West End and the city centre and for your budget you'll get yourself a decent 4 bed with a garage.
Additional benefit, there are some fantatstic roads in not too far away!!

Thought about the "countryside"? 30 minutes from Glasgow though.
http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/prope... Would take a bit of cash to sort out the decor though.
You'll have to develop a suitably posh accent if you want to fit in with the area.

We did the only nice area (the hallway) in that house, few years ago now.http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/prope... Would take a bit of cash to sort out the decor though.

I liked the house at the time but it's really close to the council houses and the drive through there every day is depressing.
Thanks for all the advice folks...
...bit leftfield...

Waterfront property, look out the window...and see Arran, apparantly the Waverly goes past in the summer, fell in love immediately tbh. Oh, and it has a garage, woohoo.
Only 40mins from my brothers place in Clarkson, and I recon there will be some nice roads when I go exploring, perfect for my little meg.
As you can no doubt tell, very excited. Gota get my place down here sold now!!
Look forward to meeting some of you next year, cos I know nobody!!
