Hi all , I recently purchased a CNC plasma machine , I have made the table and got the machine briefly going however , the software is Fast Cam and the supplier said downloading your drawings is as easy as downloading photos from your camera !! well I don't class myself as a thick person however I work with AutoCAD and this I use for my drawings for cut outs in my line tracing machine.

Well I cant upload a auto cad file into fast cam it says errors !! anyone ?

also I cant seem to set the torch control height of the machine my mate says I need to scrap the fast cam and put a simple cutting program on with nesting that converts these into a G code from auto cad ??

still anyone ?

your inputs will be most welcome I will even pay for someone to help me out (west mids area ) to get me going

Many thanks Ste.

On the systems I've used you have to go to input cad and choose the correct format e.g dwg dxf

Rather than just open the file

this i used to work with Adige tube lasers. These are 3d machines not flat beds however .
Ultimatley you have to keep messing with the software , there should be some kind of .dwg of .dxf import method .
Then its a case of nesting the part and trying to figure out how to cut the most from the material,it can be tedious work , but once you programme a part once you shouldnt have to do it again .

Like i did you might have to keep running back and forth to the machine tweaking laser power and speed etc
