what carbon 29er

as per title. i need to get a 29er. for use in chilterns and alps. needs to be carbon for one-upmanship reasons.

currently have a yeti 575 with crossmax slr's.

budget is open.

any ideas? (not a santa cruz tallboy or giant anthem)

Why not an Anthem? Only ever seen good things written about them.

However go check out the equivalent Scott/Specialized and you'd be looking at closer to £4K. Not saying either are good value mind you!

Only 2 worth considerin Tallboy (which you dont want) or the scalpel. The scalpel is fast, really fast and a pile of fun!

If it's a more XC orientated bike you're looking for I'd go for a custom built Niner Air9 Carbon. They're very rapid bikes in the right hands, not the most comfortable thing for long distances though!

Spec it up with XX1 or XTR, SID forks, ENVE/King wheel set and some ENVE finishing kit. It'll be an incredibly fast bike and weigh very little

A bike suitable for the Alps and Chilterns? You need two bikes...or hire one when you go away - saves the hassle of transport too.

What sort of riding are you planning? Chilterns and Alps seem quite different locations!

Vast majority of riding will be chilterns with maybe a week in total in the alps -PDS type stuff.

Looking at a pivot Mach 429 carbon with crossmax slr's again, just because those wheels are so very good.

Hadnt considered a niner, will look into that!

I picked myself up a Cube Stereo 140 SL in the leisure lakes sale and am chuffed to bits with it! Would highly recommend one! Seems to climb really well and the 140mm travel with the bigger wheels seems to be more than adequate for most stuff I ride.....
