Thinking of staying 1 or 2 nights in or around Inverness between 14th and 16th next week. Looking for recommendations to places to stay, plus anything to do/eat/see in the city/area (will be going to Lochness and Leakey's book shop).

Nice hotel with leisure\Spa club. Also decent parking too.
I booked it through laterooms so got a decent rate.
Cheers,

There is that pesky meeting point all the aberdeen ones are late getting to..... Brewers fayre is one place to try lol.
Culloden battlefield worth a visit but wrap up warm lol.
If going to Loch Ness head to Urquhart castle which is just outside Drum. If doing little hoon then keep going on to Fort Augustus and back round the other side of Loch Ness to Dores, nice food there. You have done that route but in different direction

Hi,
We use Easy Breaks quite lot for cheap deals, often dinner, bed and breakfast for £30 pppn. Might not get one right in Inverness but could be in surrounding area (www.easy-breaks.com) but book on line as there is an 0843 contact number. This time of year we have had 4 nights DBB for £118 pp with wine on 2 evenings.
Yorkshire born and bred tha' knows!

Av - good suggestions there
Don't think there'll be much hooning with the OH with me though!
Why? Your driving ain't that bad is it?

Ok change the word hoon for drive. Stop in at Foyers on way to Dores, know ya love that walking stuff, they have foyers falls there.
Just if yer being romantic

I brought my OH up for saturday night last weekend (im in the middle of a 4.5 week trip and needs must) and stayed at the thistle. Pretty much just an upmarket travel lodge tbh but the 'executive' room I booked was a bit underwhelming. Clean and fit for purpose but tiny and a view off an aldi wasn't ideal.
Eating wise we tried to get into mcgonagles for a steak but it was packed and trying a few other places to the same story so resorted to google and phoning for space and ended up at a place called nico's on the banks of the river ness for a very nice meal.
