The red 400SE was up for sale for a long time and didn't sell. There were reports at the time that it was a bit shabby. Maybe they bought it cheap and have spent some money on it to improve it's condition. They are asking a high price for it now, but asking is one thing, getting is another. It could be a long wait.

They could have at least got the seats done a previous owner really like a good lunch those seats would put anyone off for the sake of £300 to £400 at a trimmers it would be presentable ?

Can't help thinking it was a bargain for what it sold for - despite getting a bit of a kicking on here previously. Just goes to show it's all in the presentation and pics - looks so much better in the dealer pics.

Real shame the owner didn't get the price the dealer's after bearing in mind the circumstances surrounding sale

'the price the dealers after' doesn't mean he's got the price. It could be a long wait and still end up selling it less than the original owner. It's very easy to burn your fingers on a car like this. Not everything that glitters is gold

Brave dealer to sell a "mature" TVR at anything near to the typical private sale price.

The dealer will have to account for VAT on the profit margin he makes on the car too.

Yeah I sold my 67 BGT for £5400.00 to a dealer,
he has it up for £7995.00
But he needs to turn a profit, he will pay tax on his profit,
He also puts a warranty on it.
And it's not sold at that..yet
So I don't resent it.

There's no doubt if your sure about a car and don't need the comfort of warranty
Private will always be cheaper.

Are we getting our 400SE's mixed up? I thought the one that got the kicking and considered to be in poor condition was this one, that had previously sold at auction: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/tvr-400se-/291004396792?...

There are two bright red 400SE's for sale. As far as I'm aware, one was the guy who also owned and advertised a black 400SE at the same time. Neither sold at that time. That was the one that was said to be a bit shabby. This 400SE which is up for sale at the dealers for 7.5K I believe was the one up north where the wife was selling it because I understood that the husband has passed away. I remember it distinctly because it had the non standard dash and wheels and the side exit exhaust.
