I don't want to tempt fate but during my 4 year ownership she has gone through the MOT's ok so fingers are crossed for Saturday.

True Keiren but the Divorce was a horrible experiance, after 30 years it was not only damaging on the finances but on my health too, it was my decision to call it a day but I had not foreseen all the problems associated with it like depression etc.Kie
The ex Wife had next to no pension but I had a decent one which she went for and successfully got awarded 48% of my pension pot!!
I really do run the S2 on a shoe string budget now. Once I have paid back the money I owe then things will hopefully get better.
I always see my Mum on a Thursday evening so I will have a chat with her re paying her back but having just sold my Motorbike to settle some bills I have prepared myself to do the same with my S2.

I believe kidneys can fetch a good price in the States.Not a party to your Mum's financial position, but is she really desperate for the funds, if yes then of course you have to sell, if no, would she really ask you to sell a treasured possession in order to get the money to her ASAP?
Discuss it with her, lay out the options and see what she says. Tell her you want to pay her back (of course) and that to do so you are considering the option of selling the car, see what she says. After all the s
t you have been through she might prefer you to have something that gives you a bit of fun rather than see you sitting in doors twiddling your thumbs, (assuming she does not need the money back yesterday).
Can you not use your skills to earn a bit of cash, the chassis work you did this summer shows you have skills that could earn you a few bob at the weekend.
She sounds like a caring person, she did of course lend you the money in the first place, discuss it with her. Don't do anything hasty.

My Dad passed away in 1985 so my Dear old Mum only has her state pension, uses one of those halogen heaters rather than use the central heating to heat all of the house, she said there was no rush for returning the money but I'm very conscious she has little income comming in etc.
I do service friends cars etc for a bit of pocket money but those of you who have read some of my posts will know I suffer with lower back pain so although I was able to weld my chassis using my own equipment I was under no pressure to get it completed which is why I took my time so as not to put my back out.
I'm also a decent paint sprayer having restored a few cars in my time but most paints now days are two pack and require specialist equipment etc.
I'm sure she will say not to worry but I guess I'm of that generation!!
Keep it for as long as you possibly can - it looks like you are enjoying the car show scene, which means meeting some great people with common interests. I can't imagine that the MOT will turn up anything too costly - that's the beauty of these cars when they are in the hands of us DIYers. There are lots of handy people on this forum that can support you with the specifics.
The market in the US is still largely unaware of the TVR S series' appeal, but mine goes over well with the locals. I don't know how many would buy one, especially considering RHD cars are often thought to be dangerous, but if I can help in any way with facilitating your car sale (or any other for that matter) to someone in the US, just let me know.

Thanks David, mine is certainly no show car but it has been very reliable plus the previous owner I purchased it from had spent around a couple of thousand on her, replacement trailing arms, outrigger, new hood and recovered roof panels, full stainless steel exhaust etc.
When I purchased her my first job was going to be sorting the dropped doors, I removed both door cards and window frame but whilst bending to get access to the hinge bolts my back went into a spasum which left me in tremendous pain for over a week! needless to say I have never got around to sorting this although they don't seem to have got any worse.
