Mobility mayhem

I see this guy on the local roads to me he's all over the road several days a week, but today he saunters down the middle of the road , (with roadworks for 400yards ) with mr qashqai hitting the horn , the guys doing the roadworks staring in disbelief , it was something out of a fast show episode ..
Oh it has a trailer for storage as well .... Which weaves when he's at top speed ...

There was one such moron where we lived in England. He'd act like he was a car, follow the main roads at 5mph rather than stay on the pavements out of the way. There were wheelchair ramps and all the usual facilities, but no, he'd dawdle along on the road. I'm not sure if he was breaking any laws?

A lot of dropped kerbs aren't dropped enough to be safe, especially in an electric wheelchair rather than a scooter - there are several even in central Manchester that I'll go onto the road rather than try to use. Faster scooters and powerchairs are Class 3 vehicles and need a (free) tax disc, lights etc - these are not just road legal, it's illegal to use them on the pavement over a certain speed, although I don't think the BiB would be very impressed if someone avoidably held up traffic for any length fo time.
Theres a guy near me with one of those scooters, genuine hazard, seems to veer from one side of his lane to the other at will and doesn't (can't?) look when it comes to junctions and just pulls out wildly at the mercy of oncoming traffic.
The amount of cars I've seen in town that have had to slam the anchors on just because he's driven completely across their path without so much as a look in their direction is ridiculous.

Well there was plenty of room to slalom a car between the cones all the way down the road they were repairing the path . But he never uses the path... GC8 said:

To be honest, having a mate who is disabled who buys and sells them for a living I can see both sides, they are a lifeline for the disabled but sometimes the capability to pilot one safely may be beyond some riders who may be infirm, may be suffering from various ailments. To Mr Quashgai, is it really worth making yourself look a
, just bide your time, realitically time sat behind mobility scooters is not going to be signficant, if he is being dangerous, report to the Police so they can have a word.
Remember, these things can do 8 mph, they weigh somehwhere around the 100 kilos mark, with some of the riders I have seen on them, that could be knocking quarter of a tonne all up, travelling at 8 mph on the pavement, and those electric motors have some serious torque, so dont get in the way, so going on the road, driven considerately, in side roads, I dont see a problem.
Ihave had a go of my mates one, actually quite fun to ride, very smooth, one of the things that has set me on my current quest to get an Electric Car. Another mate of mine bought one of the same guy as his spine has disintegrated, he has gone from being a really active guy to not being able to walk, there but for the grace and all that, I managed to fall off a mountain bike backwards the other week (being a tit) and it made me realise how easy it is to end up needing one.
There seems to be a tendency by the public to see the disabled as a separate species almost, defined by the tools they need to get by.

I saw an old boy come off one of these earlier in the year. I was waiting at the lights & he was on the footpath heading towards me. He gets to the kerb & just carries on without checking the kerb first. Unfortunately it was about 12 inches tall so the front wheels went down & just stopped - he went straight over the handlebars & landed in front of my car. I got out to see if he was ok & got a right load of earache for my trouble
Seen him about loads of times since so he was definitely ok!

There is a women near where I live, she must weigh 40 stone, and has a super beefed up scooter, has to be strong to take her weight.
She rides it as she claims she can't walk, she can't walk because of her weight, she was banned for drink driving, and claimed in court that her disability, (her weight) should exclude her from a ban.
The magistrates told her, obesity is NOT a disability.
Instead of getting sober, and exercising, she just drink drives on her scooter.
She drives off pavements without looking, drives down the middle of the road, no observational skills, and no interest in rules of the road.
It's only a matter of time before she gets hit, I just feel sorry for the person that hits her.

Can we start a new scooter Looney thread.
I live near bexhill which is the home of the Mobility scooter.
Has anyone noticed that the Mobility scooter is only available in metallic red with the odd RS edition extra powerful blue one for which is mainly used for the fat 30 stone non walker.

As mentioned, scooters come in either 4 mph or 8 mph versions
The much bigger 8mph have to be used on the road NOT on the pavement. Some of the 8mph can be switched to 4mph and then they can be used on the pavement.
There are plenty of lunatics on them and there really ought to be compulsory training for users.
I know a bit about them as I have two 4mph scooters as I, unfortunately, can't walk. I also have an xkr
