Over the years that I've been following this forum there have been a few S owners who, for one reason or another, have reluctantly had to sell their cars, redundancy, divorce, marriage/baby on the way, house purchase etc. etc.

So here we have..... Phillpots Pawnbroker Service

Never actually used a pawnbroker but guess it works a bit like this, we agree a value (bit less than market value coz I have to be sure of getting my money back). you get money, I look after car and in an agreed time frame you repay money + interest, I give you car back (or we extend loan period)!

Couple of snags apart from all the legal stuff, like lack of capital and secure storage scratchchin but an excellent idea in principle.

Mods, this is a hypothetical discussion raiser, not a blatant plug for my new business

...interesting...

One point to bear in mind...a friend asked me to garage his S1 for a few months whilst he was emigrating, however, it couldn't just be left there so he asked me to give it a run occasionally.....he collected it a couple of months later, but I was hooked, so I had to go out and buy one!

So, they will need to be used to keep in good condition....to do this, you should include a try my TVR service for interested people to try them...this would give the cars a run out, plus would ensnare new S clubbers into our fold, which would increase demand and so keep prices up...

...might also give me more contributors to writing S articles for the club mag...

Could even start a magazine with S- centerfolds to show how well cared for that they are. Mind the staples......!!!

Great idea! Had a couple of times while self employed,.. money owed to me/contracts ending etc.. That I had to seriously think about selling the S. Luckily it never did get that bad and I think the thought of selling my car made me extra motivated to chase people and get more work. No longer self employed but I would definitely have used this kind of service if needed rather than sell, Anybody can be made reduntant these days,Great to have an option until you get back on your feet. Also I bet the car comes back better than when it was left in Mikes hands!
