Punto dual mass flywheel
Discussion
My son has an '07 punto turbo diesel which has just eaten it's own gearbox. We took the box out ourselves and have had it rebuilt at a cost of £600 but before we put it back in I'm caught in 2 minds about the flywheel.
I think there is too much play in the one that's on the car, so feeling sorry for the boy I said I'd pay for a replacement. On searching for a decent and reasonably priced item, I found an advert on e bay for a single mass flywheel complete with new and modified clutch assembly which is supposed to be a better alternative to the original dm flywheel. They claim all the shock absorbing is done by the unique clutch assembly, so no compromise on driveability.
The big temptation is that it works out about £140 cheaper than a dm flywheel with the added bonus of having a new clutch.
I'd be most grateful for any advice before I decide one way or the other, it'd be extra handy to hear from someone who'd made he switch, would love to know if it's a good idea before I blow the cash.

They are known to fail. Replace it while you have the gearbox off.I think there is too much play in the one that's on the car, so feeling sorry for the boy I said I'd pay for a replacement. I had to do this to both my Punto and Multipla.
Before the Fiat haters appear. VW have the same problem.
