Apologies if this has already been done...........but........thoughts on Quickscoping in COD (whatever your platform), ie: Do you consider it really skillfull (as I do); I mean, 1 shot, 1 kill, and sometimes quicker than many of us can fire an SMG off, or am I wrong here, and it`s just down to luck/lag/whatever ?

FYI, I`ve tried to master it many times, and I just simply can`t do it well enough. Okay, I can get plenty of kills doing it, I`m not completely hopeless, but I`m just nowhere near as good (if you can call it that LOL), as I am with an AR, or SMG.

Any thoughts ?

I thought so too, therefore your pointless trolly post has confused me.

I've never quite got it either - it must be slightly above my motor skills (which are pretty decent on the likes of COD and whatever).

People who are top level at it are very skilful players. Those who imitate but haven't got the skill are easy kills in my experience.

I do find it ever so hilarious that people moan for days on end if you use a high powered SMG or shotgun but if you manage to make the most of an exploit in the aiming system so you can get easy 1 hit kills before people have even reacted to you thats somehow "skilful".

tbh it depends on what game it is in for example its easy to do it in cod games but hard in BF because it at least trys to be realistic, before the flaming starts let me ask you this. Would you ever see a real life sniper quick scoping? no because they are never meant to be seen and not spinning in the middle of the street going for that "trick shot" like the same way you would never see a real life soldier bunny hopping all over the place.

In short quick scoping is for the kids who like to show off to their friends and the adults play it the proper way smile

There are slightly different objectives in life and video games though. Anything but an infinite KDR IRL is a bit of a fail wink

This is spot-on as far as I`m concerned; I feel that you have to have really good eye-to-hand co-ordination to be able to target your opponent so quickly and precisely, and still get the shot off fast enough...

Okay, I`ll have what CJ1987 says as well, in that it isn`t anything like what a sniper-rifle is actually used for in real-life, but I would imagine that the players who`ve used it in that fashion from the start did so because it was the most efficient weapon to get the quickest kill, whether it be at long, OR short range ?

I`ve even played against people doing it on Nuketown, (possibly the quickest map of all ?) and winning the entire match very easily just quickscoping ! To me, that is extremely skilfull....

There was a point in BF1942 when I could do what sounds like quickscoping. My PC barely manages to run BF3 so no chance of doing it these days.

It definitely works if the lag compensation is finding in your favour. I've never done it though, seems like making a pointless exercise of something that should be fun.

I have no idea how it is done.

For me in games, sniping goes like this:

1. Wander about for a while to find somewhere to snipe from. Get killed 2-3 times before I find somewhere.
2. Find suitable location has now been destroyed. Find somewhere else. Repeat 1.
3. Finally find somewhere to snipe from. Stare at screen wondering where the f**k the enemy are. Get shot/stabbed by someone who is in our base without being spotted by my team
4. See someone. Spot him for the team. Fire one round that goes low. Fire a second round that goes low. Enemy runs behind something.
5. See another person. Compensate and fire high. Then finally get a leg hit. Get stabbed by some f***er.
6. See another person, they are running. Fire 10-12 rounds into walls, the ground, the air and pretty much anywhere near the f***er who is bouncing and jumping all over the shop. They hide. Reload. Whilst I reload, they have peeked over/out of wherever they are hiding and are shooting me. Attempt to find them on the scope - aim at their head. Just before I get the shot off, die from their SMG/LMG rounds.

hehe

Try a hardcore map in BF3. 60% health so 90% of sniper rifle hits will kill. Of course, SMGs are more likely to kill at long distance, too... and being hardcore, there may not be a minimap so you have no idea where the enemy are.

Quickscoping isn't unrealistic. Wiggling from side to side is. As is bunny hopping to avoid being killed. When BF5000 has proper wounding so if you get shot in the leg you cannot jump or move quickly then things will change. biggrin

My point is that this is a game. It's not supposed to be realistic. If it was truly realistic then it wouldn't be much fun to play, which would pretty much defeat the object of a game.
