Odd one, this.

The passenger mirror on my E61 keeps moving, apparently by itself. As in, I'll set it to be in a particular place, and then a random length of time later (but usually a day or two after) I'll notice that it's moved to a completely different position.

Presumably the current mirror position is stored in the key, so I don't know why this would be happening but it's bloody annoying.

Anyone else had this? Driver's mirror is fine, never moves.

I did wonder whether someone was moving it when they walk past or whatever, just as a laugh, but they'd have to come on to our driveway to do that which seems a bit odd.

Mine does it as well. No idea why. I too reset it and then some time later it seems to have moved. Yes it is annoying!

Glad to know it's not just me, then. I wonder if there's any solution. I'll have a hunt.

AFAIK there's a mirror position memory module somewhere in the car, and this is a sign that it's on the blink. On the E46 I think it's a combined unit that does seat and mirror position memory, not sure about the E60.

Have you set the memory position via iDrive as per owners manual?

I had a similar issue - battery charge fixed the issue !

Apparently my car alarm was going off during the day and draining the battery.

Since charged and alarm sorted out, no more funny gremlins !

Don't remember seeing anything to do with that - I've set it via the M buttons on the seat bases?

I thought the iDrive setting just controlled when the last position was recalled, during unlocking or when the door opens?
