Decided that I was going to upgrade my radiator rather than fix a small hole/recore in my current one. I've heard that there are more modern radiators available to fit the Chim...more efficient and less prone to damage. Am I right?

Can anyone suggest where to go and what to ask for?

An indication of cost would also be appreciated.

Many thanks,

Andy

There is nothing wrong with the standard rad, particularly on the 4.0 litre. It is no worse than anything else for getting damaged.
In my experience damage rarely occurs unless you run into something.
Get a decent recore done (about £110 plus vat).

I have replaced the radiator in my W reg 4.5 Chimeara. The parts were sourced from TMS at Melton Mowbray. The radiator costs around £250 plus there is a kit of parts for the conversion which can be used for an extra £18 approx.

The upgrade radiator is aluminium cored with plastic headers and is of fabricated design - this means there is no soldered joints to crack and fail.

Alternatively I have my original radiator (with leak) in my garage going very cheap. You could have it repaired/re-cored for around £100+ and then be able to do an immediate swop without any downtime. Email me if your are interested.
