Hi, might sound like a really daft question but i have a 2002 260 short wheelbase single rear wheel front wheel drive Transit, i'm sure i should know this but don't carry heavy loads normally. I am looking at picking up a pool table with a slate bed top which weighs approx 300kg which works out to approx 15 bags of sand, am i right in thinking it should be able to do this or is that too much. When you think of 15 bags of sand sounds nothing i'm sure i've had this many in it before, but 300kg pool table sounds heavy? Help

300kg is about the size of a standard Transit driver and his mate wink

Seriously though, that's not a lot for a Transit. Add a zero and you get somewhere near what the gylocal freelance metal recycling agents manage.

Even if you take the lowest figure here of 741kg, you could still have 2 of them with weight to spare.

Look at the data plate - usually in the door shut.

The clue is in the name - 260 is your weight rating so 2600kg

350 = 3500kg.

Etc smile

260 = 2600kg not sure that's right, can't see it carrying 3 jumbo bags of sand at 850kg a bag

That's gross. You need to deduct the unladen weight of the vehicle to work out its carrying capacity. At a rough guess, it's going to be in the region of 1000 kg's, give or take a few. That needs to include the weight of the driver and his dinner though.

clue is in the 260, this is it's total weight, so a 260's axles can take 2600kg, however you must remove the weight of a transit from that (around 1600kg?) so you can carry around 1000kg (one metric ton)

so yes, you're fine!

ETA - beaten to it;
