I drove up to Wales this weekend, in the never ending pursuit of sheep, and had a great time. But I couldn't enter any Welsh location into the SatNav. Not town names, road names, postcodes, not even Cardiff, nowt. As I drove around Wales, the SatNav knew perfectly well where we were and all the names came up on the map, but they weren't options in the part where you type.

Come to think of it, I should check if any destination beyond England is typeable, but surely Wales isn't an optional extra?

James, I seem to remember having the same drama on one of our welsh runs. Deep in the very user unfriendly settings on the SatNav is the option to switch databases. Yours sounds like it it set to England, you can change that setting to UK - or if you're really weird, to Wales only! HTH, Bins. wavey

Ah yes, in fact it's not hidden - the country is the first menu choice above street and city. I have the UK countries, and France, I guess I need to buy the others.

You have the newer Garmin sat nav that does not think Wales or Scotland are worthy of being included in the UK banghead
Another annoying feature of the "improved" sat nav wink

It's an '07 Vantage, so it's probably the Volvo.

It led me the wrong way up a one way street yesterday, first time that's happened on any car I've driven.

It's easy to moan, but I bet SatNavs feel the same way about their rubbish drivers... all the missed turnings despite being told about them half a mile in advance, how we think we know better, turning into a driveway thinking it's a B road, expecting her to recalculate in the 100 yards before the next junction, etc.
