Win a set of Dunlop winter tyres!

Win a set of cold weather rubber for your car, courtesy of Dunlop Tyres and PH

Screen scrapers at the ready, winter's fast approaching. And with it the endless debates about whether or not winter tyres are an essential fit or simply marketing hype. Well, why not find out for yourself? Thanks to Dunlop Tyres we've got 10 sets of winter tyres to give away and all you have to do to have your car shod for the snow and ice is share your funniest and/or most embarrassing winter driving mishap with us.

We'll pick the 10 winners and all you have to do is pop along to your local HiQ branch and have them fitted. We'll catch up with you early next year to see how you're getting on and again in the spring when you remove them to see what you made of them and whether or not they made a difference to your cold weather driving.

We'll share those impressions on the homepage so make sure you've got something to say and are willing to share it with your fellow PHers.

The entry form and details (with all the Ts and Cs) can be found here. You've got until midday on Monday 18 November to come up with your best anecdote and we'll announce the winners once we've selected the final 10. Make sure you let us know what size tyres you'd need in your entry!

Entered, always been interested in a set of winters but never been convinced enough to actually go out and get some. Maybe I'll be able to get out of my street forwards this winter.

Be convinced. I've had a set since '08 and have never looked back.

Google "EVO Jaguar Winter Tyres" for a very interesting article on their effectiveness.

Winter tyres are so much better than I thought they would be.

535d starting in 4 inches of snow on a hill you couldnt walk up was no problem at all.

Total convert here.

Indeed

I think once you've tried them you won't go back, snow or no snow they make a big difference

They also prolong the life of the summer tyres

Will be interesting to see what those think who get the opportunity to use them

Turned my RS3 into a little tractor in the snow

Telling quote from that test is: "Would four-wheel drive help? We had an Evo X FQ-330 on summer rubber to hand. It managed a 2m29s, 25sec adrift of the winter-tyred XF. Point proved."

If there is anyone still out there that doesn't think they make a difference.

I have a set of winters for my 328i, which I swap to when the temperature goes into single figures (i.e. around about now.) I live on a steep hill, so they are pretty much essential if we have anything more than the lightest dusting of snow. I'm completely converted.
They are also brilliant in heavy winter rain, much better than my not-exactly-rubbish Falkens, which are very much a summer tyre!

Nice to see a car with slabs of snow big enough to knock someone senseless if they came off on a corner and back window not cleared at all... smash

At the risk of being a killjoy I hope this is more PH suitable than the last tyre giveaway*.

Read the T&Cs but can't see anything untoward this time.

* i.e. maximum value for four tyres not to exceed £400, maximum width 215 etc.

Great, with that tyre width restriction you could fit them to the Caterham 160

I could really do with a set of winter tyres, could not get my Celica GT4 up the gentle snow covered slope outside work.

so much for Four Wheel Drive :-(

and of course for my visits to my son in Germany

I don't think anyone disputes the difference, it is the fact in reality in the uk they are essential for 7 days only max to stop you using a car, to most people therefore they are not required, but more like shopping in waitrose, not essential but makes a difference.

Well I acknowledge it's not very PH but my little Fiesta snotter really benefited from the last giveaway! £300 of free tyres is still pretty good in my book!

"Open to all car owning UK residents", but I have to pop into my local HiQ centre to have them fitted.

So "all GB" residents then.

Not at all. There is no limits with this competition and we are happy to give away anything from 14'' tyres to the biggest 19''

Thanks to Dunlop thumbup
