Thinking of buying one of the above, although it's going to be a 03 or 04.any pointers on price and any issues I should look for?already seen that the pump for the roof and central locking is suspect, thanks in advance.

Suspension, Boot Seals, PSE Pump as mentioned, make sure everything works, rust on rear arches, service history, buy with your head.

Loaded with spec anyway, Keyless Go is a bet Meh, Pan roof is nice, vented seats are ok, and distronic is a matter of trust on a 10 year old car. Buy from someone that knows the cars.

476 was the "official" figure from Mercedes-Benz, this proved to be a pretty conservative figure once the press started dyno testing cars. 500 bhp is more than likely.

Ideally look for one that has had the suspension replaced with aftermarket Arnott stuff, this should save future massive bills.

Disagree on keyless go, it is a must have, pressing the end of the gear lever to start the engine is cool.

Engines are generally bombproof.

Actually you could buy my car if you like, about the age you are looking at and in top condition but I fancy something less practical.

I highly recommend going for it. I saw a current shape SL today and they simply don't look nearly as good as the R230 shape. Sure the running costs could be high, but worth it.

Had my beautiful tanzanite one with sl65 split rims for a few years with no hassle I did preventative maintenance inc clearing drains and lubing seals - I would have another if no kids.

I think wheels are essential, they make the car - split rims the best, 5 spokes next best, turbines for winter biggrin

Ask Rob and Steve if anyone is selling then - put card up, they get a lovely Carlsson SL55 in that I often admire.

None better - on you tube is a video of them changing my abc oil and the car does a pre programmed bucking bronco, my SL was perfect once they had finished with it. The guy who bought it Isis top $ but he was the first yo see it and he had seen a few.
