Mine is on the blink so looking at a new one, Max £50

Does not need to be flash just well made and cover Ac/DC Volts, Resistance, have a continuity chime, auto ranging, self powers off

Saw this and I know Fluke is a good make:

Draper 60792. I'm on my third - first one went AWOL, second got left under a leaky bit of roof. Does everything you're likely to want, and costs about £15.

I bought my first digital multimeter from Maplins (branded as their own 'Precision Gold' range) when I was in my early teens and getting into electronics. I've since used it lots and on my cars etc. over the years too. I've lost count of the amount of times the poor thing has slid from an engine bay and gone crashing to the ground, but it still works perfectly.

I'm 41 now, so that makes it 29 years old...so maybe have a look at Maplins?

Here you go, here's a link to them

That Fluke will do you well. I use mine daily for fault finding on lift control panels.

Draper and maplin stuff are ok, but for the extra few quid there not in the same league for use & quality.

Cheers guys, the maplin one is no good as it does not do AC volts which does come in handy
