Hi there

A friend of mine with no interest in cars (fool) is looking for the best option to lease a small car (99g CO2).

I have no clue which dealers usually offer the best deals or about leasing in general, but if anyone knows which manufacturers tend to offer the best packages I'd be grateful if you could point me in the right direction.

Cheers. And sorry if I've put this in the wrong section.

www.contracthireandleasing.com is a good consolidator of deals.

Why's he bothered about the co2? Every deal I've seen includes the first years road tax.

Cheers. And I think because she'll pay less in London Congestion Charging costs.

Ah gotcha.

There's usually some cracking deals on Citroen C1-type cars, less than £100/month is common.

From http://www.tfl.gov.uk/roadusers/congestioncharging...

"Cars or vans (not exceeding 3.5 tonnes gross vehicle weight) which emit 75g/km or less of CO2 and that meet the Euro 5 standard for air quality qualify for a 100 per cent discount on the Congestion Charge."

I believe that <100g cars registered before the limit changed have a grace period, but don't know if it is transferrable to subsequent owners.

Andy's right - it's recently dropped to 75 g/km or less for congestion exempt cars which significantly reduces the options. I don't think any non-hybrids qualify now. If this is the primary concern then it's something like a Vauxhall Ampera / Chevy Volt (neither of which are cheap to lease), or perhaps a Nissan Leaf (much cheaper - I have deals on these.) Not particularly funs cars - what you really want at this point is the Tesla!
