Hi,

For the moment I'm not interested in buying a trailer/transporter/LWB van etc... but I need to get my Formula Ford regularly from Liverpool to Oulton and Anglesey.

Has anyone tried hiring a transporter e.g. top of Google http://transporterhire.co.uk/

Or does anyone know a reasonable company who will transport it at the start of a weekend and collect it at the end?

Thanks

Krikkit

Just buy a trailer, assuming you move it more than 10 times in a year?

Hire a trailer if you can't buy one.
Make sure it does not get nicked .

I don't have a suitable car

I don't really want a road car.

I want it to be someone else's problem!

Strange approach if you want to start out in motor racing - job one is transporting your car, or find a hire and drive team but will cost a fortune.

Sell the race car then.

Few people in the area who could help.

Short of paying for track support though, you'd be looking at finding someone with a beaver tail who would work weekends?

Thanks for the replies. I've been racing single seaters for ten years and have always driven for a team or paid for a drive etc...

I'm not interested in owning a road car. I cycle to work, walk the shops... I haven't had a car for a few years and it's liberating. Yes yes I'm sure you can't live without a car I don't want to hear about it.

Anyway if you work it out the ownership costs for maybe 6/7 meetings per year make owning the transport is not particularly appealing in addition to having an enormous big motor on my drive. So I have the answer to anyone else faced with this issue. You hire a LWB transit. FFord fit in them with skinny spares on... you don't just give up or do what everyone else does.

Thanks once again for your suggestions.

Like the style too - only car is a race car.

Why? Because race car.

Yeah, hire a van. Find a little back street place and try to talk a deal, we normally manage to get a new renault beavertail for £80 from when the bloke closes up Friday night until Monday morning when he opens again. The fact that we always clean the motor, don't smoke and don't look like a bunch of idiots helps us quite a bit biggrin
