What trolley jack?
Discussion
After reading up on Arcan XL30R's I've been looking for one for ages (as per below), but clearly they're not making them anymore, so any other suggestions;
- I liked the built in pad on the XL30R
- not bothered about aluminium ones, seems they suffer from blown sills
- ideally 2-3 tons
- well built, kind of thing you can keep for decades
- plus axle stands too

I've got a 3 tonne Clarke one that I bought about 5 years ago and it's been faultless. It gets regular use on cars from 800kg up to nearly 2 tonnes. It's quite heavy at 37kg but it's very sturdy and lifts to a good height. It's not as slim as the low profile jacks, so on low cars you need to drive onto a couple of blocks of wood to improve access but it's not a great problem.
I bought mine during one of the many Machine Mart offers and paid closer to £70, but prices have crept up since then.

Bought one of those second hand from my local garage equipment supplier. Awesome bit of kit! For the amount of use it gets it'll last forever. Can't say the same for anything made by sealey or the like.
Long body means it reaches past the engine to the subframe, so I can lift either end of the car up at once.

I've got one of those, bloody good jack. I used to have a fear of jacking cars too high, I used to loft them the bare minimum required to do the job. I now know that was because I was using DIY type jacks, the semi pro / pro jobs, go a lot higher and a lot more stable.I bought mine during one of the many Machine Mart offers and paid closer to £70, but prices have crept up since then.
