Used car - private plate

I've just bought a used car with a private plate but there is no paperwork for the plate?

Should I contact the seller or the DVLA?

If you have the v5c, you have the paperwork for the plate. There's nothing separate until you put the plate on retention.

If you are going to sell it, get it done quickly, but make sure you tell your insurance company that you are going to do it, and get them to assure you there will be no admin fees when you switch plates.
