Hi,

My brother has just bought a 575M. It has a factory battery cutoff switch. Can the battery be charged without removing the terminals if you use the cutoff switch? I have a cutoff switch on my 1991 ZR1. I use the switch and then hook up the charger and I have had no issues.

I just wanted to check if that is Okay to do on the 575.

Thanks

If you are connecting directly to the battery, then yes.

I always hook my 550 (and other cars) up to a battery conditioner when not in use, but never disconnect terminals or use the cut-out switch(es).

Charger => isolate the battery using the cut off switch and charge

Conditioner or tender => no need to isolate

There's a subtle but important difference between a charger and conditioner...

Pays to operate the switch from time to time just to keep it working. I didn't and I am told as a result the switch went open circuit resulting in the alternator failing.
