Ive had an occasionally dodgy back for years now and a few days ago i woke up with pain all down my right leg from the lower back.
Not been to the quack as seems classic siatica/sciatica?
Anybody got any tips in getting rid?
Had just got to peak fitness again after the last back tweek so very frustrated!

For me it's once-monthly visits to the chiropractor. Many will say it's little better than quackery but for me it works.
Other than that it's anti-inflammatories (naproxen and/or diclofenac).

I used to go to a chiropractor quite regularly when I was 19/20 and suffering from a bad back. She used to straighten me out and then tell me not to play football or carry my golf bag until the next time I needed to see her.Other than that it's anti-inflammatories (naproxen and/or diclofenac).

Then I went to see a physio who told me that my bad back was caused by tight hip flexors (causing anterior pelvic tilt) and that a few stretches should solve the problem. They did and now I don't suffer anything like I used to (only if I get lazy with the stretching).
I realise that the reasons for your bad back could be a million miles from my experiences and each to their own and all that re. preferred treatments but if you haven't already, I'd definitely urge you to go and see a good physio to see if you can identify the cause, instead of treating the symptoms.
Fell down a flight of stairs when carp fishing 15yrs ago n have had occasional lower back pain ever since.
Its got worse and more common recently,i cycle and go to the gym daily for the last few years which might of aggravated things, the leg pain is a new thing thats just happened the last 2 times.
Sounds like a physios the way to go,hadnt thought of that so good call.
Long shot but any recommendations for one near Preston Lancs?

I'm aware of the cause of my back problems and they are not treatable, other than by surgery which I am keen to avoid. My chiropractor keeps my back in as good a condition as it can be, under the circumstances.

That's fair enough then. As I said, it was likely that your problems weren't anything like mine but given my positive experience with a physio Vs a chiropractor I thought it'd be worth saying. My chiropractor keeps my back in as good a condition as it can be, under the circumstances.
