Microsoft are e-mailing certain people today to inform them they'll be sent a free XBox One:

I got one of these e-mails stating I'll be getting a free copy of the full Killer Instinct game:

Wasn't really interested in the game, but it's a nice gesture.

I don't see any reason to doubt it, if you've ever been to one of Microsoft's training seminars or conferences they tend to give Xboxes and copies of Windows out willy-nilly, so gifting a few free ones to Xbox live subscribers isn't a big shock.

Its easy to see why.

New Global Xbox One advert: Millions

Ship a few thousand units out to customers for free?: Could be done for under a million and gets you on every tech related website going.

Basically its cheap advertising and promotes a "good guy" image at the same time, win win for MS.

Indeed. Social media being used in advertising. Will become even more of a thing.
