Does anyone know of a suppplier of front brake pads for a 1973 Aston AM V8 fuel injected car other than Aston Heritage, who seem to be selling gold plated ones judging by the price. Just to clarify, although they are Girling three pot calipers'and look like the ones fitted to DB5's and 6's and Jaguar XJ's'they aren't held in by two pins but by a small bracket and nut.

If there is a good crossover to a Jag part then call Neil at SNG Barratt on 01746 908450, from memory there are a couple of sizes of three piston calliper.

These are quite a common calliper I think, same as my Maserati Mexico and the MK 1 Jensen Interceptor if they look like these:-

You may find the same pads cheaper searching outside the Aston Martin supplier network

What an odd calliper, I've never seen them with uneven numbers of pistons before. Can anyone explain why?

to prevent pad squeal?

it's what they had to hand?bolting two different halves together from the 'parts bin'

more likely a cheap performance upgrade while still retaining the original mounting points which can be seen in the pic so not having to re engineer the upright.

These are £119 direct from EBC Brakes, how does that compare?

Ouch.. lol. These were standard fit on some of the most expensive performance cars of the late 60's / early 70's (Aston DB6/V8, Maserati Mexico/Ghibli, Jensen Interceptor, Jaguar etc) but I would guess that Girling were still developing disk-brake technology and concluded that 3 pot was better than 2 pot!

They are about as cheap as I've seen, but still £110 a set once they've added the VAT on.I'm just a bit surprised at this kind of price seeing as DB5 pads are about £30 from any number of parts suppliers, but the V8 ones seem to be only available from Aston specialists.

Thats the one,and probably fits the Maser.but not the Jensen, the Mk1 Interceptor may still have used a Dunlop setup like the CV8.MkII Interceptors used the same caliper as Jag.XJ's I think, which looks very similar but has the pads held in by two pins through two holes in the top of the pad not by a plate bolted on to the caliper.

Definately not a way of avoiding different mounting holes as these were made in at least four different sizes all with different mounting hole spacing, although they did use a spacer between the two caliper halves to allow use on vented discs ie early XJ6 versus early XJ12.
