Good Karting Track in the Liverpool Area.
Discussion
Hi all.
I'm looking for a decent kart track in the Liverpool area. It's to suggest to the corporate games board as the world games are being held in Liverpool next summer (It's a big company sports day effectively).
What options are there. So far I'm pushing 3 Sisters in Wigan but it looks like Team Sport Karting in Warrington is also in the running.
Are there any other options in the area?
Does anyone have any experience of either of the tracks suggested?
Last year was a Whilton Mill which was excellent. I'd personally rather have an outdoor track, unless the indoor option at Warrington is something special.
Thanks in advance.

It's pretty good if you go for the main arena:
The much smaller, 'standard track' in the building next door isn't very good at all. It's far too tight and narrow.
3 Sisters is very good, if you don't get the slow kart (consistently passing people through the bends only to be passed by even fairly large people on the long straight and the consistently lowest trap speeds! Copyright: Great racing driver excuses of our time)

I have to admit that the indoor option looks very good. Inconsistency in karts always seems to be an issue with indoor venues. Saying that I've heard many bad things about 3 Sister regarding their karts. Which is a worry.
Another option that we could try to sell to them. Is there any companies that hire out karts. I'm thinking TKM or Rotax but lesser machines would be equally good.

carts at 3 sisters are very very fast (circa 70mph) in comparison with indoor ones (390cc)

Although it looks like the layout is slightly changed since I last went.
The run up to the 2nd level was previously from the right (it's from the left now) which meant you had a bit longer run up, carried more momentum up the hill, take off at the top leading into a sharp right. The land and turn combination was a killer!
After a 3 hour endurance one of my mates was literally black and blue, and was told he had a broken rib the day after.

Love 3 sisters though, done quite a bit there.
A bit crap if it's raining, and the very first puddle in the pit lane sees water running up your trouser leg.

Great circuit though, very wide, 50/60mph (apparently) down the back straight, loads of space. Great place.

I've done a few events there where we were mixed in with owner/drivers - lovely shinny helmets and monogrammed suits, etc, etc.
Yes they were quick on the straights but you'd usually pull it all back in the twisty bits!

I found at Whilton. Guys with £10ks worth of gear lapping slower than me in my clapped out 10 year old rotax. However on the flip side some of the lads there made me look like I was in a kett kart!!!Yes they were quick on the straights but you'd usually pull it all back in the twisty bits!

I have to admit that 3 sisters looks by far the best track but theres a lot of talk of a crappy corporate fleet. :S

I think you're probbaly best focusing on the 'experience' rather than the 'sport'.I have to admit that 3 sisters looks by far the best track but theres a lot of talk of a crappy corporate fleet. :S
3 Sisters is a professionally run place (not that SpeedKartign isn't mind you) and there's a real air of a proper race track there.
The buildings and staff are excellent and I'm sure your clients will, er, ahem, 'lap' it up. The karts can be hit and miss but so will most of your client - probably.

It's not so much a corporate do as that. It's not a jolly for the fat cats in suits. The standard in pretty high. Our team alone has 2 ex-TKM junior guys and a chap who used to race ProKarts. The bigger teams like Asda and Intel have some very fast guys who still currently race. There are also noobs like myself (although I have a Rotax that I like to use when funds allow.)3 Sisters is a professionally run place (not that SpeedKartign isn't mind you) and there's a real air of a proper race track there.

There were 200 odd drivers last year (at Whilton Mill). The games were actually help in Liverpool a few years ago and 3 Sisters was used as the karting venue. However their iffy organisation and inconsistent kart quality are making the organisers look else where for next year.

Ah - completely different ball game then, and I doubt Speedkarting in Warrington would satisfy you then. There were 200 odd drivers last year (at Whilton Mill). The other thing then is to hire the track, and perhaps rent karts from already established teams?
The only other pro outfit I can think of then is Daytona in Manchester, but it's probably a bit of trek?
