been looking at my wheels.
getting them coated black this winter however looking at the standard rim, they look so dated.

What suggestions other than buying expensive ones could update them?

I was thinking of getting the centres 5 spokes machined? even machining a grouve or thinning the spoke would look better.

looking at the latest lambo Ferrari or even lambo and all the aftermarket big wheels the spokes are tiny?

any idea please?

thanks dom

Strength and therefore safety would be my concern if you start machining material off the spokes. I would want and mods made by the wheel manufacturers. The cost of doing this would probably be more than the price of new wheels.

Alternative thinking....
If you are going to paint them you could add changes in the form of colours, pinstripes, etc and then get a good thick coat of lacquer to seal it all..

Just a thought.

Might be worth a visit to the wheel powder coat providers Dom ........ some really smart designs out there that can transform an otherwise bland/common form .

I feel your pain, I too want to change the look of my wheels, my Image wheels are a pain to keep polished (no lacquer) and the spoke design (though period for the cars look) just looks too chunky, I was looking at Braid wheels but I need to be careful of fit because of my oversize brake package.
If you go to the Image web site you may get some ideas for a re-designed centre to bolt to your current rims, Harry at Image should know all the PCD details of the Ultima wheel (they used to supply I believe).
