So my idea of getting a s5 was severely dashed after moving house...

So my budget is around 10-12k.

So i want something fun, something which i can chuck 2 dogs in and punt about in. It wont be doing lots of miles! 5k MAX...

Any recommendations to other cars or have you driven any of these?

The A3 is the only one with remotely enough room for 2 dogs... You also need to buy the house behind it wink

Was thinking the same, you'd have a job fitting one dog in a 500 or GP let alone two.

How about other VAG cars?

Seat Ibiza/Leon, Skoda Octavia.

Agreed, although the others look rather more fun. Something a bit depressing about the run of the mill Audi. Golf GTI or Focus ST?

This is the depressing fact of having dogs. Well currently if the Q3 is out we have the sportKa they are chauffeured about in. Its a bit tight for a westie and a boxer...

GP is surely perfect for dogs with no rear seat. Could even use the rear strut to tie them to with their leads.

I've got a GP2 & a Labrador & he fits in the back no problem, wouldn't say I'd get two in though (not comfortably).

The Minis are really nice.

Also checking out the A1 Sline as well, they look nice... or not?

what kind of dogs do you have though? a couple of scotties aint going to pose much of a problem but try getting a couple of great danes in an a1!

to be honest my dog never (apart from my wedding day) goes in the back of mine but he'd be fine for shortish journeys if needed. but if we were going on a camping weekend away with him it'd be a struggle but we don't ever do that & if we did we'd take the misses' beetle.

i think if you've got 2 decent sized dogs (rather than a couple of fashion rats) & want to transport them reasonably often you'll be needing an a3/golf/focus sized car at the least

Should have said the Wife has a Q3.
This car is for punting about and if needed for emergency's or short journeys the dogs can fit in.

I guess you'll know what works for you & yours, have a read of my thread LOH's mini adventure, there's plenty of room in the GP as long as your dogs are comfortable in that environment.
