Thinking of doing SlimFast
Discussion
Over the last couple of years, I've gone from doing no exercise at all to cycling around 4 miles four times a week, 15 miles once a week (on average), playing 1-2 hours of badminton or squash every week and the occasional big weekend bike ride. Every lunch time I walk around town for an hour, and while I'm not dieting, I am eating healthier - making my own food, cutting out fatty and convenience foods etc.
Thing is, in over two years, I've been steadily losing weight, but I'm still overweight - down from 16 stone to 14 (I'm 5'8"). I'd like to be ideally around 12. My fitness is there, but a lot of the time I'm just too heavy to keep up with mates on the bikes, and it makes no sense having a bunch of lightweight cars when there's 90kg in the driver's seat!
So, I think my lifestyle is sustainable. There's nothing I can't see myself continuing to do, but I want to lose more weight, quicker. Once I'm down to 12 stone or so, I can come off the diet and back to "normal", and not gain anything, I think.
So, is Slimfast worth doing for me, do you think? If not, is there something better? Or is my plan just bonkers?

Slimfast? ahahahaha! Don't be a MCD!
The problem all dieters have is a total lack of patience. This is usually brought on by total ignorance or a complete lack of intelligence. Therefore, the only true cures are education and listening to people who know. They very last thing you should do is listen to an organisation that's only interest is scamming you out of your money... usually by using your total lack of patience and complete ignorance.

Tried that, that's how I got the gout!
t loads of weight. no bread, rice, pasta, potatoes etcI've been trying to cut down on beer, but since birthday I've now got 24 bottles of really nice ale that won't drink themselves.
I'm really thinking that some sort of crash diet for six weeks could be the answer. I'll come out the other side a lot lighter, and still able to have a lifestyle that won't see me put weight back on.
Make some enquiries about this:-

Mrs WR, my son and HIS girlfriend lost around two/three stone in three months...I couldn't believe it....it was like they were wasting away in front of me....
(I have no connection whatsoever with this plan, but know it works if you stick to it...it was recommended by our GP)

then look at cutting beer and sugar, any processed foods are also killers. up your cardio. the most important thing is to make sure dont snack and only eat 3 meals a day, you could also try eating less in your meals, smaller portions etc. little and often is good to sustain weight. focus on proteins and veg along with more exercise.

t loads of weight. no bread, rice, pasta, potatoes etcThe real question is, why have you posted on here asking for advice, some coming from due experts in the field, and seem to be ignoring it and coming to your own conclusions regardless? Your other thought against already listed better advice, of crash dieting, is probably the only thing worse than a massy hysterical option like slimfast. This trait I suspect this is the overall root cause to your root causes.
Sometimes the hopelessly addicted addict [to carbs] will come up with any excuse they can to cling to their addiction. See it several hundred times.

, I've researched the subject quite extensively. Whilst that list is correct, it's only part of the picture. Rapid weight loss can cause gout irrespective of the diet. Wacky Racer said:

Better still, a sensible long term diet and some patience & commitment (a lifestyle change, for want of a better phrase). Absolutely no need for any form of meal replacement type thing, from whatever source, as alluded to already.http://www.lipotrim.co.uk/

Chuck in some exercise & things will be better still.
Best lesson I ever learned
, even if it was somewhat late in the day
OP - Can't help thinking you're doing something wrong or possibly going through a slow period (shouldn't happen but does - my weight loss has been pretty lumpy in reality, even if that's probably down to little bits of good/bad).
Then again, maybe what you eat isn't quite as wonderful as you think - as posted, MFP, honesty and subsequent action

And be HONEST when recording what you eat. Losing weight genuinely isn't complicated, it just takes a bit of understanding and some willpower. I lost 2 stone this year with pretty minimal lifestyle changes - I just cut down on portion sizes and removed some of the s
t from my diet (cookies, biscuits, etc.). I continued to eat pasta, rice, red & white meat, bread and so on - just start recording and you'll see how overboard you're currently going.

Not seen that before - unfortunately I'm not a big coffee fan. I don't suffer from gout any more anyway,I don't want to derail the thread so let's get back to the OP.
Cut out all the bad s

I don't think there's anything better than eating well and getting plenty of exercise. You're doing fine. Anything advertising an unplausibly fast weightloss is pretty much guaranteed to be bulls
t and/or really bad for you - you don't need it.
See if there are obvious places to cut a few more calories if you want to (especially the aforementioned booze if you indulge) but otherwise I reckon you're already sorted and just need to be patient. You might get dropped by your mates on a climb but you'll paste them all on the descent...

I would just eat normal food and even better cook your own meals whenever you can so you can control what goes in.
Don't take Slimfast and you don't even have to take any supplementation including protein shakes - I see so many people in my gym who rely on supplements and get nowhere with results because their general diet is basically 5h1t. Not doing the right training is a factor but diet accounts for 80% if you want to attain this right results.
Cut out the alcohol or at the very least reduce it likewise with cakes, chocolate etc.
