Ok so i know this has been asked a million times and the answer is Palmer sport, but for some of us that can be an aspiration as its a little too expensive right now!..... ok a lot too expensive! (im not denying the value of it, just i cant afford it!)

A friend of mine has recently passed his test and has got the speed/driving bug (he is 30!)

So i thought for his birthday a nice simple, plop you in a supercar (ferarri, aston etc..) have a quick blast, would be fun

I don't want to spend a fortune in fact as little as possible. The cheapest out there seem to be just £39 but would this be a complete waste of time?

I know £39 is going to buy bugger all time in the car (they claim 6 miles) but anyone tried it?

All i'm after is a couple of laps we can zoom around in a car we'd never be able to afford for a bit of a laugh.

Any suggestions?

These things will occasionally pop up on Groupon/similar. I bought one as a gift for someone and it was heavily discounted, although it may have been nearer £100 than £39...

I had 3 laps in a Ferrari 360 on Elvington airfield, I don't know the cost but I don't think it was much (passenger ride in an atom too). IMO worth it, and they were very accommodating and I got to use almost more power than I felt comfortable with! (wet at the time)
£40? why not!

Ok I've gone for a 6th gear - 1 Supercar experience

Reviews of them sound ok

What you get for the money is much more than the cheapo £39 ones on groupon/buy-a-gift

Also no "extra" fee for weekend dates

Cost £55 each.

All in all sounds good and looking forward to it,

I'll let you know how goes when we do it.

I did a sixth gear a few years ago, was okay. They're a bit reluctant to let you loose, wouldn't let me down shift into second for a slow corner, told me to back off on the straight etc. It was on the cheap end mind, and I think the owner is on here. I enjoyed it thoroughly, just a shame it was so restrictive.

I've heard mixed things, mainly good if i'm honest

so we'll see what its like

More going for the experience of driving a car i'll probably never be able to afford to own!

My first driving experience was done with 6th gear at Bruntingthorpe. I drove an Ariel Atom and the guy I had was really good and really pushed me. I then drove a Ferrari Modena in the afternoon and had a different chap sat with me who seemed like he wasn't bothered and it felt like he was holding me back. Mixed experience with this one.

I bought my best mate a triple supercar experience with Everyman at Prestwold Hall and whilst I was there I treated myself to a few laps in a couple of different cars and my experience was a lot better than 6th gear. The track was also better and it was marginally cheaper too. I just checked on their website and if you do one of their late deals, a supercar experience can be had from about £50. Out of the 2 I've done, I would definitely go back to Everyman if I got the chance to do another experience day. Would love to do a Palmersport day mind!
