Just watching Spurs on ITV and on comes the latest Audi advert about how all conquering quattro is.

My gripe is that it shows a woman slipping on ice and then, to paraphrase, "don't worry, whatever, you'll be fine."

Slightly exaggerating the ability to defy physics, no?

I thought the same, surely you'd need studded tyres on ice?

They have a radio ad running at the moment that goes along the same lines. It did sound to me as though they were selling Quattro as a normal drive on a sunny warm day.
Could be interesting when all the Q7's drive into ditches on black ice.

Well hopefully the ASA will look into all the mediums they're using. Feel free to add your 2p worth...

Well I don't see anything wrong with it, I quite like the advert. It plays on the weather "chaos" we have in this country and all the media hype that goes with it.

Do you really want the advert to pander to the nanny state and explain about snow tyres and everything else? It's an advert, not a driving instruction video.

I hate it when people in 4x4's think they go round corners faster in the snow....they don't....and they crash

Since do you need studded tyres to drive on ice??

The OP has obviously has not had much experience in winter conditions if you think driving on ice somehow defies the laws of physics.

I think you miss the point of my argument.

It's not a "nanny state" to highlight embellishments in advertising which is what they're doing. I've no problems with the weather suggestions which are fine but the suggestion that their system will work on ice is inaccurate miss-selling.

OP has lots of experience driving in many conditions, especially wintery ones smile

As above, you're missing my point. Driving on sheet ice, as demonstrated in the advert, has less friction versus other conditions, yes? They're suggesting that quattro trots around this little fact and you'll be fine with it if you have quattro ticked on the option sheet.

It's not that hard to see is it?

Perhaps I'm missing something here but I've read this thread three times and watched the advert four times and I'm still sat here feeling a bit confused by it all. The Quattro, crap weather... yep I get that. This thread, nope... lost me?
